Mammoth will be released on DVD in the U.S. on April 20. The movie is available for pre-order at Amazon and you can also get a look at the DVD art.

Gael García Bernal (BABEL, AMORES PERROS) and Oscar®-nominee Michelle Williams (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN) star in the English-language debut of internationally acclaimed writer/director Lukas Moodysson. Leo (Bernal) is a successful web developer. His wife Ellen (Williams) is a dedicated emergency room surgeon. Their New York City workaholic ways leave little time for their 8-year-old daughter, who is mostly cared for by their Filipino nanny (a breakthrough performance by Marife Necesito). But when a series of personal decisions triggers a chain of events on the other side of the world, will they discover the rippling effects of life s smallest choices? Thomas McCarthy (THE WIRE) co-stars in this powerful family drama about imperfect lives, fateful actions and the epic ironies that bind us all together.

After a long wait, we finally have a release date for Mammoth. The movie will be available on IFC On Demand on November 18 and will premiere in New York on November 20. Go to IFC Films for more info.

Mammoth is screening this week at the 45th Annual Chicago International Film Festival.

Michelle and Gael García Bernal star in this riveting, Babel-esque drama about the fate of the nuclear family in the age of globalization. An affluent, overworked New York couple relies on their Filipino nanny to care for their young daughter, while in the Philippines her own children grow up motherless. Meanwhile in Thailand a young mother turns to the sex trade to support her faraway daughter. In the space of a few days, the ties binding them all will be tested in life-changing ways.

This movie has yet to be released in the U.S., so if you’re a Michelle fan and you happen to be in Chicago, try to catch a screening!

As I mentioned previously, Mammoth premiered at the Berlin Film Festival on February 8. Michelle did not attend, and the movie has received mixed reviews. You can read more about the audience reaction here. The festival runs through February 15.

Incendiary will be released on DVD in the UK on March 2. It is available for pre-order on Amazon UK. No word yet on a US release.

Mammoth will be making its international premiere at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival. The movie has been chosen as part of the Competition programme. The festival will run from February 5 – 15, 2009. The official website has more info and a complete list of the films that have been chosen.

I added 55 screencaps from the Mammoth trailer. It’s interesting that Michelle’s character is referred to as Dr. Vidales in this clip, since IMDB still has her character name listed as Allison Gould. It must be her married name.
